The Shack @ Windansea {Styled Shoot}

I wrapped up 2016 by decorating a lot of homes for Christmas and I threw a styled shoot in the midst of it because I like to really boost my stress level as much as possible around the holidays. They just aren’t stressful enough. I want to be on the precipice of a mental breakdown before I celebrate the birth of baby Jesus because apparently it makes for a kickass photoshoot! 😀

I got to The Shack (as it is referred to by locals) at Windansea the night before the shoot to do a little guerilla-style installation to get a head start on my early-morning shoot. I installed as much eucalyptus as I could, until it was so dark I couldn’t see what I was doing anymore. It was actually pretty magical & not just because I witnessed a sweet sunset proposal, but because there is something special about creating next to the ocean at sunset. Then I was back at 5am the next morning, in the dark when a gentleman, who was there to photograph the Supermoon, told us that we couldn’t do anything on or under The Shack because it is an historical landmark, so we quickly changed gears and created a new set-up on the fly. Good thing wedding vendors are experts at thinking on their feet! As it turns out, Supermoon guy saved our butts big time because the tide was coming in and would’ve swept away our entire tablescape set-up & chairs & all of us! It was even ripping down all of my eucalyptus installed the night before and carrying it out to sea, which was crazy because I used a 6ft ladder to put it all up, but the waves along with the cloudy, moody weather sure did make for some incredible shots and lots of excitement!

We had a beautiful color palette & I got to dye some textiles in an ombre azure gradient for the table and the ceremony structure. It really pops in the images & I’m thrilled that everyone loved how they turned out. I’m grateful to have met & worked with such pros! Special shout out to Natalie Pittman for bringing me out of my photoshoot hiatus. 😉  It was a blast!
